This website contains information to assist students, teachers and parents in making their school more environmentally sustainable by participating in the AuSSI ACT.

The Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) is a partnership of the Australian Government, the States and Territories that supports schools to work towards a sustainable future.

WHAT'S ON ?

TEACHER WORKSHOPS in 2013 (location and dates tbc)

  • Energy efficiency. Presenters will outline strategies to reduce consumption including activities to engage the whole school community in the sustainable management of energy.
  • Kitchen gardens.  A workshop to assist schools in soil preparation, plant selection, crop rotation, use of produce, incorporating chickens and managing compost.
  • Australian Curriculum – Sustainability Priority. Explore the Organising Ideas, develop sustainability activities and units for the learning areas, examine supporting resources and share ideas.
  • Water.  This workshop will focus on water consumption and quality.  Participants will be introduced to a variety of water programs and curriculum units for ACT schools.
